Le Sigh

Why is it every year, I read about a great conference or expo and I can't go because I have to work.  Years ago it was Comdex.  Then CES.  More recently, E3 -- I swore I would go every year until they announced that it was going away.  After that I set my sights on PAX.  I'm still kinda hoping I can go this year, but it's all the way up in Seattle.

So, today, when I read that SXSW Interactive is just around the corner and in my home town, I first got really excited, because I could go!  I don't have any work obligations!  I am totally free to go!  But then I saw what a ticket cost at the door -- $450 just for the interactive conference.  The flip side of being unemployed also means that I am broke. So... yeah.  Le sigh as my wife would say.  One more conference I will miss, and Robert Scoble will not.  Then again, he goes to all of them.. he gets paid to go.

Oh -- sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that I was laid off.  It appears my company ran out of money.  I'm looking for a job, if anyone knows about one.  My resume can be found here.  And if you are looking at it before I have a chance to update it.. I will update it tonight.  I promise.

Once more to Kim Phung for my usual delicious bowl of Pho Nam Ve Don.

Fortune: "You will attend an unusual party."

Soooo.. Anyone throwing a party they want to invite me to?
